Well unbeknownst to Max, there was one contestant who had his attention from the start. Becca was an equally feisty heroine who was full of sass and humor. Both Max and Becca had a chemistry that was tangible and as a reader your couldn't wait for these two to finally realize their feelings.

He knew she is the one for him but he needs to get to know her more. They partnered up with all sorts of things and found comfort with each other. On the other hand, Becca joined the contest for money. Things changed but which one will prevail? Honestly, this is slightly better than the first book. I can't stop laughing throughout this book. Lots of banters and shenanigans. How can I not laugh on Max?

Mar 26, BookSmacked rated it really liked it. The Consequence Of Revenge was a slightly insane but quirky and hilarious read. Max has been tricked shall we say with going on an dating show similar to The Bachelor. What ensues is some insane and crazy moments involving a goat a gecko and a bit of crazy revenge here and there. The The Consequence Of Revenge was a slightly insane but quirky and hilarious read. There are some sweet moments mixed in with the crazy. And as the show goes on feelings start to get blurry, love starts to blossom and I found myself excited to see how this ends.
Will Max get the girl? Will he get burnt? Or maybe he will walk away? So many potential endings in this story that could have played out. One things for sure this was another crazy funny rom com. I can only imagine what is in store in the next books in this series. May 07, Paige rated it really liked it Shelves: As I have not read the first book The Consequences of Loving Colton, this was able to stand on it's own. I do wish I would've TCOLC first because I think I would have understood Max's character more quickly, plus I can only imagine how funny it was since the same characters are in both books.
This was a laugh out loud book with some very sweet moments thrown in. Max was basically watching the 3. Max was basically watching the world pass by or at least that's what it looks like to his friends. After watching his best friend Milo marry Colton, he's been feeling a little left out and bereft without her always there like she was all through college. Now that he's graduated and his family expects him to run their hotel empire, he's not actually sure what he wants to do with his life.
Since he's been sort of stagnant, his friends sign him up for the reality show Love Island which is a like The Bachelor. There he has to battle not just the elements since there's also Survivor theme added to create crazy situations Max has to endure, but also 25 girls vying for his attention. Before he leaves for the show he runs into a girl serving coffee. He uses some of the most lame pickup lines ever created and gets flatly rejected. Later he learns her name is Becca and she is one of the only "normal" girls on the show.
She's there to try to win the money so she can finish college so they make a pact. They will help each other make it to the end. She'll help Max ward off the crazies and he'll help her win the money. It seems like the perfect set up except eventually feelings start and both are left wondering if the relationship they started on the island can actually transfer back to real life. With lots of humor, hijinks between a crazy group of friends, and Max's less than serious outlook on life, I was left laughing through most of the book. Some of the humor was a little over the top and there were several ridiculous situations and revenge plots, but overall I was able to laugh my way through the story of Max trying to find his place the world.
At first, since I hadn't read book 1 in the series, I felt like I was kind of dropped into the middle of Max's life without knowing what was happening. It took me a bit to feel like I knew and understood Max but when I did, I fell for the lovable guy. He just wanted what Milo had since he could no longer have it with her. He was silly and sometimes irreverent, but with Becca it was easy to tell that they were perfect for each other.
Becca wasn't looking of love but Max was exactly who she needed. She was just as sarcastic and silly as he was and was able to keep up with him. She also fit perfectly in Max's gang of friends and was always on the lookout for hIs best interests.
I'm definitely going to go back and read The Consequences of Loving Colton. I also can't wait to see who comes next since both Jason and Reid my be even crazier than Max. The book is about Max, a young, rich guy who has just graduated from collage and had his heart broken by his best friend. His friends decide to help him out of his misery and sign him up for a reality TV show called 'Love Island'.
So Max has to spend the next month or so on an island with 25 beautiful women and a goat. It's the second book in a series, but it can be read as a stand-alone. I did read it as a stand-al Netgalley was kind enough to send me this book in exchange for an honest review. I did read it as a stand-alone, because I didn't know that it was part of a series.
This book was really different for me. I have never read anything like this before. The writing style took a little getting used to, but it only took a few chapters to draw me in. It was a really quick, fast paced, addicting and really enjoyable read. At first I was a little bit skeptical.
I've read a few reviews before I've started reading this book and everyone seemed to love Max and at first I couldn't see why. But I still decided to finish this book and I am glad that I did. Because I did fall in love with Max. The only thing that bothered me a little bit was that I sometimes couldn't understand how Max and his friends interact and talk with each other and also that I didn't get their 'inside jokes'.
But that is only because I haven't read the first book. In the end though I loved their group dynamics. I gave this book four out of five start, but it could have easily been a five star book, if I'd have read the first book. I will definitely check out the next books in the series if there will be any and I am also thinking about reading the first one.
I also think that this book would make a great movie. So if you think that this is a book you'd enjoy, I would definitely give it a try. It's not a book to take to seriously but a cute, summery read. I'll might upload a review onto my youtube channel. If not I will definitely talk about it in my June Wrap-up. Right from the consumption of the laxative like gummy bears, the goats, the gheko's and the strange cray cray women, you will not be able to put this book down! But will the story end well? I know what and who i was rooting for! You really have to read it!!!!! I would highly recommend this book! Second book in Rachel van Dyken's Consequence series, but can be read as a standalone.

Max gets to spend 3 weeks on an island with a bunch of women looking for love or maybe the cash prize. Dec 23, Bigbooknut rated it really liked it. The dynamic among the friends is SO engaging and Max He can be so deliciously evil poor Reid. I guiltily admit that I seem to like Max the most when he's doing his worst. Moving right on to the next book in the series. Max was probably my favorite thing about book one so I was eager to read his book.
After finishing it, I like him even more. The beginning of this novel is slapstick comedy like the first was. Some is more over the top and even a bit cheesy. I found myself literally laughing out loud. After it really gets into the meat of the story, there are actually several surprisingly deep parts. Max is quite the man. He mostly just shows his easy going, silly, well-groomed side, but he is also very smart, romantic and athletic. I was truly shocked by how hard I fell for him.
One minute he had me giggling and the next swooning. The female lead is easy to like, and her personality fits Max's perfectly. They are a definite match. The rest of the little gang of friends also play their parts. It was nice catching up with everyone again. New characters and animals join the cast. They are great additions. The overall plot was good, not mind-blowing, but I did enjoy it.
I recommend it to those looking for something light and fun, a good-time read. On the other hand, Max, really stands out to me. He's the total package— gorgeous looks, wealth, intelligence, excellent sense of humor and the biggest heart ever. I want my own Max. FangirlMoments and My Two Cents.

May 15, Romance Readers Retreat rated it it was amazing. Rachel does it again, what a fabulous read this was. This is the second book in The Consequence series and doesn't fail to disappoint. In the first book we saw Milo and Colt get their happy ever after after a few mishaps and hilarious events. This book however is about Milo's best friend Max whom is moping after losing his best friend Milo to another guy.

Will Max find love out of the 24 women who are chosen to star in the show to win his love or do they just want the cash prize. Max is hilarious and I think he meets his match in wittiness when he meets Becca. Throw an underwear eating goat and a baby gecko into the mix and there's the perfect crazy family.
I can never ever seem to fault Rachel's books. Each and every one just gets better and better. The writing is flawless and with this particular series I have had a lot of laugh out loud moments to the point in which my husband thought I was having an online affair like a giggly teenager. It's funny, witty and is very much a breath of fresh air to read and it was very much enjoyed. I hope we see more in this serious perhaps Jason or Reids story. Thank you Rachel it was a pleasure as always and I will definitely be recommending to my fellow book lovers. May 05, Amy rated it really liked it.

But she realizes pretty quickly how much she actually likes Max as a person. Max and Becca form an alliance, both trying to work the show to their advantage, but still maintaining their friendship. They both also realize that their friendship has the potential to turn to something more, which it does. Of course, there are lots of hilarious moments on the island I like that he doesn't take anything too seriously.
Becca is a sweetheart and she not only understands Max's quirkiness All in all, I really enjoyed Max's story I loved the humor in this book and the way this group of friends feed of each other. It was very entertaining and I can't wait for Reid and Jason's story. May 23, Three Chicks rated it really liked it.
Max, the main character in this book, was introduced to us in its predecessor. At the start of the book, Max finds himself not knowing what to do with his life now that he has graduated from college. Jason and Max did not start out the best of friends, but Max thought that they had made progress…until that one day when Max answered the ringing of the doorbell… The cameras were directly in my business, all my business. My eyes narrowed, then fell on Jason. He was partially covering his face with his hands and smirking — the ass. But before he heads out to the island, Max spends an evening out with his friends.
Now if you have read the first book, you know when all the members of this group are together things tend to get a little crazy and usually Jason ends up with an ice pack to his face or somebody ends up in the hospital…which is the case here. Have you ever read the reviews on Amazon for those sugar-free gummy bears that cause intestinal troubles?? Good gravy I was laughing hysterically at this scene. He is very surprised to see Becca, the waitress that he recently tried to pick up, and was denied. Becca needs to win the show for the money to pay for her college education.
Yes, keep telling yourself that Becca because Max has a lot of charm and he will work his charisma into your heart. Three days and he was already making me second guess all my preconceived notions about the type of guy he was. It was a little slow for a short period of time, but then a surprise visit gets things moving quickly again. Where the hell did you get a tranquilizer? I zookeep on my days off? She puts up with his craziness and Max is ready to throw in his man card to be with Becca.
