This one also had fantastic settings again and terribly heavy-handed writing again, especially with the "Unholy Three" characters. Will not be seeking out third book honestly, probably wouldn't have gotten this one either except Half Price happened to have them both in stock at the same time. Jun 23, L.

He now wants Safar and all those he loves, his entire village, dead.

One person found this helpful. Very good read kept me awake at night would recommend to any one who likes fantasy and a good epic story. Mass Market Paperback Verified Purchase. This is a series to be enjoyed by sf-readers as well as fantasy fans, as the magical elements are subordinate to an involving and suspenseful plot. This second volume brings to a pitch the increasingly intense and violent struggle between Timura and Protarus, while it continues to hint at their common destiny.
Wolves is no simple story of clear moral good; we see both characters struggle with the compromise of their ideals and the acceptance of wrong action to achieve necessary ends. High level of suspense and engaging episodes of adventure. While the story is dark in tone, it's well balanced with moments of humor and sentiment. Terrifically paced, hard to put down. I beautiful and very well written book.

I can't wait for the next installment of this series. Cole has weaved a memorable book which leaves you waiting anxiously for the conclusion, although you may find yourself asking for more! Again, I can't wait for the next book in the series. This is the kind of book you come back to eagerly each time you put it down, and snarl at people who interrupt you.
Wolves of the Gods
The situation these characters are dealing with is huge, complicated, multilayered, and events just hurtle along, one gasp after another. That kind of book generally has fairly shallow characters, or characters you never have time to get to know. This book however deepens every character on every page. You'd think all that hatred would taint the people involved -- but we see and understand how a family within the community is becoming more solid because of the external attack, not less so.
This is a refreshing change from the usual Fantasy-Action novel format. This is a story about people, some of whom you'd invite to your house for dinner! See all 8 reviews.
