She discusses how to select food, how to stock your kitchen with tools, spices, herbs, and basic stocks of food, and techniques for cooking. Most of the recipes are NOT especially quick, but she suggests ways to save time, such as using canned beans or frozen fruit or cooking some ingredients, such as beans and rice, in advance. Those books provide an excellent introduction to vegan cooking, including setting up your kitchen, a description of what are likely to be new foods, such as tempeh, and suggestions for modifying basic recipes to avoid boredom. I love looking at pictures of food, and the Student's Cookbook has no pictures.
A good book for someone just starting out on a plant-based diet. Recipes that don't take forever to fix. A perfect book to add to any vegan library whether you are a student or not.

This book was a big help. Only downside, wish it came with more recipes. This book has a fatal flaw. College students don't typically have great cooking utensils are good kitchen appliances. Some of the recipes are killer though.
